@Immahnoob@MashpotatoesIII What is depressing that no action game has surpassed it in those 10 years. The amazing combat, the dynamic soundtrack, the feeling of HOLY SHIT THIS IS AWESOME WHEN YOU ARE RUNNING DOWN A CRUMBING CLOCKTOWER LEAP FROGGING ON MISSLES AND SLICING A FUCKING METAL GEAR IN HALF.
The graphics were basic because of the cutting mechanic and it needed to run at 60 FPS on a PS3/60. Now we have tech they could only dream of back then and they don't anything with it. I hate the modern games industry.
@Tamamo@MashpotatoesIII At least there's Devil May Cry. :ina_pat: Honestly though, it's a Platinum Games style of gameplay. I wouldn't say it's the end all of action hack n slash.
@Tamamo@MashpotatoesIII What made MGR good for me was the music more than anything else. Yes, the hack n slash was good since it was different because of Platinum Games's style.
And I agree, a sequel would have been perfect. We're given the perfect ending where it's all left in the air with Raiden going his own way.
@MordredSimp@MashpotatoesIII@Tamamo That game has been out for a while, and it's pretty much copypaste of MGR in terms of overall gameplay. :kekw: Platinum Games doesn't really innovate, I'd say a better game to go to is Vanquish.
@Immahnoob@MashpotatoesIII The soundtrack was a goddamn masterpiece. The end credits song is a perfect final song. It really captures the melancholic feeling that shit stays the same in the end.
@Immahnoob@MashpotatoesIII Besides the dynamic soundtrack, the parry mechanic made it for me. The first encounter with Blade Wolf forces you to master it or you get your ass handed to you.
The only game that really nailed that mechanic was Sekiro. But that game did not have the dynamic soundtrack to hype you up as the boss's life gauge lowers.
@Immahnoob@MashpotatoesIII Yeah i guess it was the first of its kind. Don't dodge like a pussy, parry those attacks like a man. And holy was it satisficing when you successfully parried a attack string of a boss.
I liked the Blade Wolf DLC. I just wish it was longer and they'd let you play as Blade Wolf in the main campaign. I could not give a less of a shit about the Jet Stream Sam DLC though.
@Tamamo@Immahnoob@MashpotatoesIII I love how the game forces you to learn its mechanics instead of allowing you to puss out and go around them and not learn them, all in preparation for Armstrong. The DLCs were easily the weakest aspect, I kinda wish it was like DMC (that's my point of reference) where you can replay the game as one of the DLC Characters so you get to play them outside of their kinda MID DLCs.
@Tamamo@bronze@Immahnoob@MashpotatoesIII Honestly it was like I wanted the game to end there, then Armstromg happened and it was even more hype. It's hard to even pick my favorite, because like all the Boss Fights were fucking great
@MordredSimp@Immahnoob@MashpotatoesIII@bronze The final Armstrong fight was fucking brilliant because it was a test of every mechanic in game. Defeating that son of a bitch was proof you mastered the game.
That scene of Raiding crushing his heart like you did with so many trash mobs in the game was like fucking perfect graduation.
