@coolboymew Been looking for a not outrageously priced copy of Symphony of the Night.
- cool_boy_mew likes this.

@parker very much good luck with that

@coolboymew Hopefully someone will figure out the PS1 equivalent to the PS2 copy protection hack, since I just want to play games on my console, but don't want to modchip it.
-
@parker just emulate. Try duckstation, it's not plugin hell

@parker @coolboymew You're trying to get your ps1 to play non native games (and copies)? You can do this with a paperclip or spring weight. You launch a working title, as soon as the boot image loads, swap the discs. Pressure on the button (near back of the ps1) keeps the system from noticing. It's actually pretty easy.

@BowsacNoodle @coolboymew Thanks! I'll try that then
-
@coolboymew But I have the console right here, I should be able to play games on it without spending $150 on a title.

@coolboymew @parker The Duckstation dev is about to publish a big update too with some bug fixes and improvements.

@parker @coolboymew If you have trouble with it, there's a disc you can buy for 20-40 USD that comes with the spring tool and I believe gives you a menu to press when the swapped disc is in. You might want to practice with a copy rather than an authentic disc lest you risk damaging a legit disc. I used just the spring method (≈$10) for some RPGs that were Japanese only. I believe the ps1 was even easier to do this on than the original release playstation. And required a paperclip.
