@gear 2D fighters were completely dead at the time. Capcom Fighting Jam and Neo Geo Battle Coliseum felt like Capcom and SNK giving up on any innovation in the genre (and both sucked) and SF4 was just not good. KOF XIII was decent but not many played it. Skullgirls was just a novelty that wore off quickly.
Besides, the game's 11 years old. 11 years before then, CVS2 was coming out. Let it go and move on if you're unhappy. There are better fighters, both newer and older.

@mrsaturday fight man games in general have been stagnant or dead since smash pretty much proved that the average fighting game player cares less about skill execution and more about push button

>they’re bitching about skullgirls on my feed again
It was always a garbage system attempting to be a balanced version of MVC2’s degenerate fighting system. The game itself’s artstyle was contrarian at the time since a majority of the anime fighting games we got were either doujin fighters or arc system works copying the generic 2000’s anime style at the time (hyper fantastical and clamp stylization.) the only reason why the designs are fat white women in Betty boop style was because it was the only designers Mike Z could fucking get from tumblr at the time.
Long story short it was always a tumblr game, fuck off with that shit. The game deserve to die a slow painful death, and I hope that the chains of mediocrity keep it that way. Because more people talk about the game than they do investing tjme to play it, because people who do play it, realize that the game is fucking degenerate and bad garbage.
