     I had a friend who was one of these guys. I literally ended up blocking him on signal because he was so obnoxious. He couldn't grasp common philosophical problems with materialism, including mind/body and is/ought problems, and any discussion of the relationship between the modern scientific method and Kantian transcendentalism was way above his IQ level.
     
     What I really saw was a person who was politically motivated. Raising "science" and "atheism" just seemed to be a means in his mind for bashing Christians under a claim that they were "backwards and superstitious" because they pass or want to pass laws he doesn't like. Bizarrely, he wouldn't dare bash jews even though they allegedly believe in the same God and can't turn lights on during the sabbath etc, and most likely because they share his political beliefs.

     It's funny because they know fuck all about actual science. They just lap up whatever black science man pukes up that day.
