This might shock some of you, but from like 2002 to 2015 I was broadly pro-gay rights, and even quite sympathetic to trannies. I basically viewed them as these poor underdogs, persecuted just for being different despite not hurting anyone. Me not being religious (I was a liberal Protestant until like 2006, so effectively an atheist, and after 2006 I stopped trying to have it both ways) definitely contributed to my sympathy for the "LGBT", and my lack of receptiveness to arguments against "marriage equality".
For me, stuff like gay marriage was solely about Equality, about letting people find happiness however they choose as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else, about having their love recognized and respected. It even seemed like a good way to bring back some public appreciation for the institution of marriage, showing it to actually be something desirable, rather than an outdated burden. On a similar note, the divorce rate and the amount of heterosexual married couples without children made me disinclined to deny gays the rights to marry based on ideas about marriage that even most heterosexuals no longer seemed to adhere to. Basically, even the anti-gay marriage arguments that I didn't find outright bigoted struck me as weak and irrelevant, nothing that could justify denying my fellow man his equal rights.

@ChristiJunior I didn't see Gay Marriage as being a particularly big deal either way before it happened, but in hindsight it was a massive fucking deal and it was all propped up by massive lies. Tolerating homosexuality is very different from normalizing it. Social norms and public morality and symbolism and such actually matter a whole lot.

Of course, even back then I found some of the stuff going on at Pride parades gross and off-putting, but I convinced myself that this was just a result of gays being discriminated against and having their identity attacked; when they would finally receive equal rights, that kind of behavior would go away, or at least be heavily toned down. Of course, that expectation unwittingly was to be a major source of my change of heart.
Because it turned out, as the "LGBT" became more and more accepted, received all the equal rights they could have asked for, even became publicly celebrated by political leaders and megacorporations, they became ever more aggressive, more intolerant, more vindictive, more degenerate, just more Evil all around.
Gay marriage being imposed on the American public, far from calming the gay rights movement down, only made it more shrill and demanding. It openly sought revenge against wrongthinkers like Brendan Eich, and made ever more ridiculous and unreasonable demands, in a far more abrasive way.
It was also around this time the tranny insanity really started emerging, and from the very beginning it was extremely obnoxious. I'd long accepted the idea that trannies had been born in the wrong body, and should be helped in their journey towards becoming their "real" sex", but suddenly I was told to accept the idea that biologically male bodies were actually female all along, that there are 20, 80, 500 different genders, that even trannies who don't pass, who don't CARE about passing, still need to be referred to with their Preferred Pronouns. The Slippery Slope suddenly seemed very, VERY real.

So, literally every single assumption I had about the "LGBT" community had turned out to be wrong, and the worst case scenario that Tradcons had warned me about seemed to be playing out, if not quite in the exact way they had described it (less Man on Dog and more Pregnant Men for example). Now, I might have been wrong about everything, but I'm at least intellectually honest enough to 1) admit as much and 2) change my opinions in response to the changing fact. Furthermore, events like #GamerGate and leftists dropping all their old anti-war, anti-authoritarian principles under Obama, had made me much more receptive to actual rightwing arguments, even arguments from the Religious Right. Me completely losing faith in the mainstream media and most "experts" also helped this process along.
It turned out that far from having been a harmless minority unjustly persecuted, the "LGBT" people are at best dysfunctional, at worst predatory pedophiles and sex offenders. Stuff like adult gay men "helping" teenage boys "discover" their sexuality is so widespread, accepted and uncontroversial in that community that not only do gays as different as Milo Yiannopoulos and George Takei relay near-identical experiences and interpretations of pederasty, they're both SHOCKED when normal people react with shock and horror to their "coming of age stories". Suddenly something like the Pedophile Priest scandal in the Catholic Church looks much less like an issue with Catholicism (especially conservative Catholics), and much more like an issue with homosexuality/homosexuals within the priesthood.
Old arguments against gay marriage suddenly seemed a whole lot more reasonable and relevant, even from a secular perspective. Turns out treating two fundamentally unequal things (heterosexual relationships and gay relationships) as equal, basically denying reality and codifying this denial of reality into law, just because not doing so would be "discrimination", "unfair" and "mean" is a stupid, dangerous thing to do, especially in a world where the Slippery Slope turns out to be oh-so real. Turns out officially redefining marriage in a way that completely removes children from the equation is even more damaging to the institution than legal divorce.

@zoomgoboom @ChristiJunior The way I see it, if you're gay but still have anything resembling a healthy attitude towards sex and your life, your sexuality will be less important to you than it would a straight person, because you want to find higher meaning and purpose in your life, and seek to leave a lasting legacy, and since you cannot do this through kids and family the way most people do, you seek to find a higher passion you can throw your whole being into, something completely divorced from sex, which becomes a side thing rather than something integral to your core purpose.

@ArdainianRight >Tolerating homosexuality is very different from normalizing it
I wish more people understood this. I don't want to be celebrated, it's a rather insignificant part of me honestly. All I want is to not have to worry about being suddenly fired from my job for being gay, or thrown out of my house, etc. That's all I ask.

@ArdainianRight I mean, I've spent almost 60% of my total income so far in my life on those who are truly needy (mostly White families and charities, churches, etc.) @ChristiJunior
