   Turkeys were expensive af this year, anywhere up to £40! I wouldn't want to take it lying down if they turned out to be rotten on Christmas Day.

   I'd rather save the expense by going meatless, if I wasn't already plant-based. Meat isn't as important as some of those in the article make it out to be.

     @opal We don't have Thanksgiving, even though we have Black Friday and Cyber Monday. It's traditional to have turkey for Christmas.

     @coolboymew Before online shopping took over, there were small-scale USian traits like fights over TVs. Now it's unremarkable and the offers aren't that great. 11.11 in China may have lost it too but is still the better event.

     It's a meme here as well in the USA, especially since the only people still showing up are showing up for the ritual and not for the deals. Or the deals last all month long nowadays anyhow.

     @PhenomX6 We've got this as well, takes the edge/FOMO out of it. A good thing but why stop there? Why not have it going (almost) all year like an SCS sale?
