But a moving gun? ehhhhhh. Might be down to barrel profile, too. If you're not planning on laying down a lot of fire in the heat then you don't necessarily need an HB chunk profile all the way down the bore

Seems like the metal fatigues all weird because of it, too, but it's "MILSPEC" so...
I'm a sucker for spiral fluting, too, but I like stuff optimized for hot climates.
