   This is new. An Italian restaurant (OK, that's not the new part), where the owners are a woman and man, where the woman has a son that also works there. So either single mother or divorcee. The step-father sleeps till 2pm and only hangs out for a bit. The woman leaves when things start to overwhelm her. The cooks are predictably demoralised.
   
   But the kid actually finds Gordon before he enters and tells him all the dirt beforehand, then calls out the step-father when he's trying to bullshit Ramsay by telling him he's there to help. It's the first time Gordon has an accomplice.
   
   There's a little confrontation between the son and step-father in front of Ramsay... aaand... woman crying (the wife). With sad piano music. :doge_laugh: Gordon looks confused.

     Clown-tier: the kitchen is moving slow, food isn't coming out, the two owners decide to go sit in the car and have dinner there. Dinner they ordered from their own restaurant. :deadinside2:

     It does bug me how the show always seemed to keep the cisco secret though (that’s the brand w/ all the frozen food, right?)

     @Rasterman A whole lot of food in restaurants in the US is just shitty, commercially purchased frozen stuff, not actually prepared in house. Most of the “dude I LOVE this little mom & pop place” recommendations are just the same thing - people with a deep fryer and a corporate account to buy everything in 20-lb bags. That’s where stuff like appetizers often come from, AFAIK it’s not uncommon for entrees to be in the same boat. So frozen sauces for spaghetti, lasagna, maybe?

     I was never a food guy so I only pick it up in bits and pieces, but I’ve eaten out with enough grossed out culinary nerds to understand something is up

     sysco sells literally everything, you can also get high quality waygu and deep water tuna from them but the reps make their bread by recommending the kind of freezer to fryer stuff you are talking about.
     
     and yes people will talk about how great the onion rings or whatever are at their favorite local place and all the ownership did was shop right.

     @WashedOutGundamPilot @Rasterman Sysco supplies the us governments schools, prisons and military but also an incredible number of restaurants and venues
     
     Some of the higher tier stuff they sell is actually pretty good. If a restaurant wants they can buy high quality food to reheat for people. Not that many do, since cheap carb + fryer is how you get profit from el americano

     it's sysco, cisco makes networking stuff. and sysco distributes pretty much everything food/bev related.
