So apparently, in between Xenosaga 1&2 Namco made Xenosaga Freaks that was a jp onry release which has some more lore on Xenosaga 1, a playable demo of 2, and a small VN that takes place in 1 where you play as specific characters just lounging around the spaceship.
Not only has the VN been completely translated to english, each character's route is available in separate downloads to play on pc
