   #poverty is expensive

   "Being #poor now leads to being more poor later. Can't pay to clean your teeth? Next year, pay for a root canal. Can't pay for a new mattress? Next year, pay for back surgery. Can't pay to get that lump checked out? Next year, pay for stage 3 cancer. Poverty charges interest."

     @PeterHald @grrlscientist The screen reader (not the browser) will read the content of the post. The alt text informs the person that there isn’t anything else in the image other than the additional information provided in the alt text itself.

     That alt text will not exactly help the visually impaired .
     An important function of alt texts are to make it possible for the browser to read it aloud.
