woah, it's almost like you have to have a fully realized personality to make something worthwhile, and being a couch potato binging movies doesn't make you a writer. just about anyone can recognize a good thing, that doesn't qualify them to make a good thing.
no work of art is ever purely what it seems. sci-fi is never just sci-fi, action is never just action. the hidden glue that holds it all together is the experiences and intents of the author and the lens he uses to portray action and sci-fi. that is what you actually see and subconciously appreciate. if your author is merely a critic who otherwise is a purely ordinary person, his work will be purely ordinary no matter how well he can articulate criticisms.
