   Thinking globally, and acting locally.. I want to try throwing an #Installfest, at my local #library. I made a list of things i might need, but one of the items is "ask fedi". So,

   Am I stupid? I read a lot about OSes mistreating their users. Would you come help switch people away from commercial dystopias to help them keep their computers going?

   Would you bring your machines to have them reconditioned by nerds to live longer, go faster, and have up to date software?

   What if there was pizza?

     I love the idea, but I think it might be a hard sell.

     Seems that sort of thing has gone out of fashion.

     @murph I helped install Linux for a fellow gamer recently, and it worked out really well. I appreciated how much they appreciated it being not-windows, and having had a hand getting it installed well. I want to replicate this locally is all. *Using* Linux is so much easier than *installing* Linux.

     Agreed, but the idea of an installfest seems to have lost its luster. Would be a neat idea to have it coordinated with e-waste. Instead of dropping off the computers to get disposed of, offer to help them install Linux, and send them back home with working machines.
