     You are right, but the local shelters are.... weird.
     
     They don't take animals and they don't let people have them.
     
     They are more of a thrift store too, for the "benefit of the animals" yet in my 10 years living here, never once have I heard of anyone getting a rescue pet from them.
     
     It's weird. I think it's some kind of state animal welfare tax laundering scheme. Same with the local 'exotic wildlife sanctuary' where it's minimum $200 PER PERSON to see a fuckin sloth, they have horrible hours, idk man it seems like something fishy.
