  Now I'm down the rabbit-hole of creating me own Hugo theme and layout from scratch. Bespoke website using Hugo. Interesting stuff.

    So, after playing with some static site generators, I feel like writing a website by hand in HTML + CSS is just easier. Maybe this stuff is just "over my head". Different themes behave differently and have different requirements for configuration and stuff. The only benefit I can see of a static site generator like Hugo is that it automatically converts markdown files to HTML with ease. But, I suppose there is probably a markdown editor that can do that automatically and allow you to just upload files to your site directly. Also, being able to render navigation bars across all pages is nice. I don't know, I guess I just need to play with these more and get a more firm understanding of them. I hate feeling incompetent or reading through documentation and trying things and not comprehending.
