   I was just reminded of Mozilla saying "founders aren't going to build them [privacy, trustworthy AI, Twitter alternatives, etc] unless there's money aligned with their vision."

   This isn't my experience! Creatives will build such stuff regardless, the only question is how quickly.

     I guess it would depend on who's money it is, and why the want to fund it? If the money hires the wrong people it would just be a typical scenario of corporate co-opting a potentiall foss alternative that threatens their power, no?

     @lanodan @jacobthedev I did remark the other day on how financially efficient we FOSS people are simpler for not going into the nonsense involved in seeking that money...

     @alcinnz @jacobthedev Problem to me is more that libre software is best done via collective ownership by authors, which is fundamentally at odds with VC.
