@white_male Understandable. They did a shakeup of the line about 2 years ago. You know, they had to "update". Millennials really fell in love with them and I think they're capitalizing on that interest by trying to inch their stuff upmarket. This is what greets you on their website now, it's all nigger-inspired "STREETWEAR" now, moved away from the modest japanese quality they used to offer. Lots of $1,200 reissues of affordable watches now, too. Not to mention they aren't even japanese, the old system where you'd look at the dial and see "Made in Japan" are mostly gone unless you drop REAL money.
I'm cooled on them. I recommend the no-names because you get a feel for what you like before you drop $300 on something that sits in your closet unworn. Plus I see collectors wising up to the *old* no-name brands. They now drop a grand or two on a sears-brand watch that purists would have stuck their nose up at today. I wouldn't be surprised if 50 years from now someone's like "Oh yeah, 'DeepBlue' was a kind of modified seiko seller, great quality for the price back then".
