Feels like this is emblematic of their country: They want to respect their history, but darn it things are expensive because of all the governmental mismanagement.....so they gotta sell off that pesky inheritance
"* Comments Massive price reduction. Seller would love to see this aircraft stay in Australia
Second only to the humble Tiger Moth as Australia's most prolific aircraft of all time, the Avro Anson is almost invisible today. Both the Tiger and the Anson numbered in the area of 1,000 to 1,100 active aircraft during the war period, and whilst there are about 200 Tiger Moths flying today in Australia there is not one Anson flying over the sunburnt country. In fact, out of over 11,000 Ansons built, just one example of the original Avro Anson Mk.I remains in flyable condition worldwide, and that former Australian example is now for sale in New Zealand. The aircraft underwent a decade-long, world-class restoration to produce a reliable, agile, award-winning, WW-II bomber that is the star of any airshow it attends. It even enjoyed a Royal visit when William and Kate climbed on board a few years ago and were very impressed with the quality of the restoration.
This Anson has now operated reliably since 2012 but the owner needs to move onto other things and so the time has come to move her on to the next custodian. A return to Australia, where the Anson spent over half a century, much of it as an active flyer, would be an ideal outcome for this unique treasure.
The aircraft has a huge support base of documentation, spares holdings including many spare engines, turrets, in fact most of a second Anson.*"
